C ommunity connections keep those at home and those far away bound to each other with an intrinsically rewarding relationship. The City of Olympia and a Navy submarine crew have had that connection. The USS Olympia SSN 717 was named after the evergreen state capital, henceforth connecting a dedicated crew to the City's volunteer needs and civic pride. The Navy was naming its submarines after cities and approached the Chamber of Commerce in Olympia to see if the chamber and city were interested in having another namesake, this time a submarine.
